You have to give a lot of credit to missionaries serving in 3rd world countries

That water looks like BLOOD. The book of Revelations says the first of the last seven plagues is the water turning into dead man's blood. (red tide, more likely, but poisonous). Actually this book is spurious.

Which is why I am glad I never joined the Mormon church, or ANY church that does missionary work. I have a tract about 12 years old, badly written, saying "your true purpose is to be a HARVESTER (preacher and missionary -my addition)" ,"we will train you", and "mission opportunities for all -home and abroad". They are not universalists by any means ,and oppose Mormons, Witnesses and so on...

None of the requirements insisted on by The Mormon church I can meet, and to go abroad, to a country of their choosing, to eat foreign food, to speak a foreign language that I don't have the brain structure for (maybe I'm autistic....?)and so on. Sorry !

Uh, a member doesn't HAVE to serve a mission, it's optional. But I can understand that it would scare the crap out of a person. It did two of my brothers. They chose not to go and no body freaked out or anything. (mom and dad were disappointed for a while but they're over it a long time ago)

I would feel pressured. I am, however, not a social person and feel that "friends" acquired by becoming a Mormon -or,indeed, any fundamentalist and evangelistic church member- would be "summer friends" - obedient to their church and ready to drop you ,upon the first word of a notice of excommunication from headquarters.

I think that dissenters just quietly dissent rather than be outspoken about what they reject, rather than be excommunicated. I wonder how many excommunicates never return to the flock, but go to some mainstream church.

Tho courted by missionaries, my soul was never there to meet them.

One thing to know about any organization, human beings are fickle. And you'll find idiots and jerks in all of them. (And I've met my fair share of psychos)
I'll not preach to you or nuttin, but what I will say is anyone who drops a friend who is excommunicated is a flake. They tell people not to cast off friends for that reason but people don't always listen. (Although I had a friend who had her own conflicts of some sort and I tried to stay her friend cuz I'd known her all through school and I loved the gal but she refused to let me just because I was LDS. I think she was afraid I would try to bring her back or might guilt trip her. It really ticked me off cause I wouldn't have even mentioned anything near to it if she didn't want it. SO I didn't even have the chance to stay her friend.)
And if someone is your friend only for the sake of converting you...that's not really a friend now is it? That's a....mmmm.....an aquainter! Someone who you get to know really well but stays on an acquaintance level of commitment. pfff *shot*

I know this pic is old, but even looking at ti, I can tell you saved it Jpeg. word of advice, any time you finish a pic, instead of Jpeg-ing it, PNG it (if you don't already) It keeps the lines clean instead of distrupting them like jpeg does
